OPI DS Topcoat Review

After the fiasco that is OPI's regular topcoat I tried this one in hopes of it being better. I got this one for free with a DS polish that I really love. This topcoat is ok. It dries faster than the regular topcoat, but I found that it chipped a lot faster. I had serious chipping within a day of wearing it, and I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary that would make it chip faster. All in all I will finish it up, but I wouldn't get this again unless it was free with a polish that I had to have.

Sunny Blossoms

A happy and cheery set of nails perfect for summer!
Nail art from Nail Max. Did a slight modification to the colours and flowers.
The flowers may look pretty simple, but it took me quite awhile to get them done. Especially when I have to squeeze 2 flowers on each nail and it's pretty hard to squeeze them in the pinkie and ring fingers. But still, I enjoy the process of creating them and chatting with my customer.

The close up. The hand drawn checkered lines, flowers and crystals. The thumbs have the same design as the ring finger. Notice that the color on the ring finger is lighter? It's my favourite summer shade ever! Pastel milky yellow. (OPI - Banana Bandanna)

DIY Satin Finish!

Ok, so last night I was doing a french mani because I felt like it; I haven't done one in awhile. Now I have places to go and things to do, so I was blowing on my nails in a futile attempt to get it to dry faster, and I looked down and my nails were not very shiny! How cool is that? So I used a different top coat on my other hand and it worked too!

Now on the hand pictured I used my Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Strengthening Top Coat. It is a thicker top coat. On the other hand I used my OPI Top Coat, and with this one it did not work as well as the Sally Hansen. I think that the key to this is the thickness of the top coat, so pile the top coat on!

Now what I did was blow warm air onto my nails while moving them back and forth, and it fogs up the top coat. The fog stays in the top coat when it dries; thus it imitates a satin finish. It is not matte in my as some light still reflects and it doesn't look chalky. So I am calling the finish satin. Now this doesn't last forever; it started to fade after a few hours. But, I found that blowing on the hand with the Sally Hansen refreshed it; such was not the case with the OPI.

Sooo....are you going to try this? If you do, please let me know how it goes! Tell me what top coat you used, and if it even worked for you. I would love to know! Oh, here is the picture with the mani glossy so that you can see the difference. I used OPI You Don't Know Jacques as the nail color and OPI Bogota Blackberry as the tip color.

Nail Art: Elegant Nails

I love how this turned out, it is so elegant and classy! I was inspired by the recent "pointed tips" trend in the blogger community and I doubt that this is new, but I was really excited to try it. It was very easy to freehand as well! I used OPI Tutti Frutti Tonga as a base color, OPI Alpine Snow and OPI Black Onyx. Enjoy!

OPI Sea? I Told You!

This is such a fun color! OPI Sea? I Told You! came out with the summer collection this year. It is a sparkley sky blue with a green undertone; it really reminds me of the ocean. It applies really well in 2-3 coats and is a really great summer color, plus I got it on clearance! Yay discounts! Do you have this color and do you like it?

NOTD: My Private Jet Holographic Goodness!

I was going to do nail art with this nail; but it's too pretty to ruin! Look at that sparkle! I put OPI Black Onyx under OPI My Private Jet to get a darker effect. I love this NOTD! It is a great way to wear black nail polish without looking harsh or gothic (if that is not the look you are going for)!

nail salon..Minx Responds!

I just wanted to quickly let everyone know that one of the owners of Minx responded to my recent post about Minx Nails ....MASTERMINX said...
Hi Princess of Polish! My name is Janice Jordan, one of the owners of Minx. Just wanted to let you know we hear you and are hard at work developing a hands on training course we plan on launching in 2010. We have some really cool fun stuff we are working on as well including new designs and customization for the nail artist who really wants to get creative. Thank you for your support and giving Minx a go!

I think this comment to my Minx post was phenomenal. How many companies take time to respond to a customer in the manner, not many. Much appreciation and respect to Janice Jordan. I hope to be this responsive to customers / clients when I open my salon ( note to self).
I didn't learn about Minx when I went to school to become a manicurist ( weird , I though nail school taught you everything...lol) . I was introduced to Minx by a friend when she showed me a picture of Beyonce sporting the silver nails. I took out a few of my trade magazine and read some articles about nails and application process. I found out about them on Monday and by Friday I was ordering a kit. I was just that intrigued!
I am so excited and cant wait to see the upcoming 2010 developments from Minx . I will keep you all posted.

nail salon.
nail salon is tired ,but she just might...Put some Minx on her fingernails tonight!

Flowers, petals and crystals... (bridal style)

I love this unique nail polish color. It has speckles of pink and red in it which is only visible if you look at it closely. And it's a opaque sandy pink color. Pretty!

This is ideal for brides as well.

A close up on the thumbs. ;)

OPI DS Reflection

Today I am reviewing OPI's Designer Series polish in Reflection. I got it on sale at Trade Secret for the price of a regular OPI Polish (the DS ones are $12.50) with a DS Top Coat. This is a gorgeous color; it's a light red with holo magenta glitter. It is pretty in the sun but my camera wasn't feeling like capturing the full effect. I want to put this over Big Apple Red to see if I can get it to show a bit redder. This polish dries quickly, but it also chips quickly, I had chips within two days. It is still gorgeous though! Have you tried any of the DS polishes? Did you like them?

OPI My Private Jet

This is a review for the much loved My Private Jet. It is a dark grey holographic polish with rainbow glitter that isn't a part of the OPI Designer Series, so it doesn't cost $4 more than a regular OPI polish.

The first picture isn't that great, I tried to capture the holo qualities of the polish but didn't. I did manage to capture the rainbow qualities of the polish, although the picture doesn't do the polish justice.

Something that I love about this polish is how different it looks inside from outside. It's like you changed your mani as you crossed the threshold of the door! Inside the polish looks like silver glitter, which is really cool! I love this polish and will be sporting it often this fall and winter!

Fairy dust extension with crystal hearts n bows

This is a 2 tone glitter acrylic sculpture extension. It's like a fairy tale isn't it?

A really sweet and bling set of nails!

Champagne gold with laces and petal flowers

This is for a bride!

I love taking clear and close up pics!

Ne va fatto uso costante principalmente in inverno.
